Award of Excellence

Every Year Canadian Community Arts Initiative selects two people who have contributed towards the community in development of arts and culture as Patron or as an artist. Our list of past recipients includes:

This year we are pleased to present this award to two more personalities. Excellence in Arts Award is given on behalf of our Volunteers.

Excellence in Arts Service Award

Raminder Gill

Mosaic Festival and board members are pleased to recognize honorable Raminder Gill for his dedication and contribution to the culture and art of South Asian Community as the recipient of Excellence in Arts Service Award by the volunteers of Mosaic Festival. Raminder Gill belongs to that generation of capable South Asians who broke the proverbial glass ceiling by entering Canadian politics. As Member of Provincial Parliament, from Bramalea-Gore-Malton-Springdale area in 1999-2003 he brought forward a private members bill, Bill 98, called "South Asian Heritage Month" to educate the public and celebrate the contributions made by all South Asians in making Canada the best place to live, work and raise our families. He served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Labour and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and later served as a Citizenship Judge from 2006-2012.

Honorable Raminder Gill will be presented with the award at the TD Mosaic Festival gala.

Panchal Mansaram

Mosaic Festival and board members are pleased to recognize Panchal Mansaram for his dedication and contribution to the Canadian art as a senior member of South Asian Arts Community, as the recipient of Excellence in Arts Award presented by the volunteers of Mosaic Festival. Panchal Mansaram belongs to that generation of capable South Asians who broke the proverbial glass ceiling by broadening his horizons in contemporary art. A graduate of Sir JJ School of Arts in Mumbai, he shone in his art at early age and started getting recognition for his dynamic work. He moved to Canada in 1966 with is wife Tarunika, an artist as well, and started teaching at local school. Since then Mansaram has help many international shows that have been critically acclaimed and recognized.

P.Mansaram will be presented with the award on the TD Mosaic festival Gala night at Art Gallery of Mississauga on 16 of August, 2013
